Post fires

We are having some very un-February like weather both on the island and in McLaren Vale, which is perfect for ripening of wine grapes. We will have had a week of early to mid 20’s deg C which is Mary Poppins weather  – practically perfect.  Joch and the boys have well and truly started harvest at Bosworth, with the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio already picked. The Chardonnay is off too and is in barrel fermenting as we speak.

You can see Woody performing a very important harvest job of making sure the sausage dog doesn’t disappear after rabbits or hares, or even kangaroos. Don’t be deceived by Tigger’s diminutive stature, she is a hunting hound, well and truly. That’s young Tom Marshall in the background, our newest harvest worker, learning all about barrel cleaning while Woody does the important stuff.

We had a huge rain at Springs Road- I think about 55ml which was amazing after the long dry and the fires on the rest of the island. We had a good rain in McLaren Vale too, less than on KI, about an inch.

We’ve not seen one of these things for a very long time now. Umbrella? Is that the word?

We had a visit from the team from South Aussie with Cosi. They were in town for the KI cup and headed up to Springs Road for some filming for their show. Annabel was the lady in charge at cellar door and did a tasting for Cosi and a few of his friends who were heading off to watch their horse next day in the KI cup. Giddy up!

Annabel is not quite sure about Cosi here!

We still have our #BuyThemOut special on which means if you buy a mixed or straight 6 pack of our Springs Road KI wines, not only will you get our 5% off the case, but we will ship the wine free freight Australia wide. Cheers Joch and Louise
